Catching up with Scott Bordelon

| April 14, 2023

When Scott Bordelon transitioned from Owner/President to consultant at BEAM Wealth Advisors, he did so with a smile on his face. Scott is no stranger to hard work, and he was careful to select partners whose work ethic matched his own. Knowing he has successfully transitioned his business into the capable hands of Jaime Benedetti and Bob Gucer, he is happy to finally have a chance to relax and enjoy quality time with Janice (when he is not hard at work consulting on client accounts). Now that he and Janice are 3 months into this new phase, we wanted to catch up and see what’s new.

What have you and Janice been up to in 2023?

Scott: Mostly trying to get used to the idea of retirement! We’ve been catching up on projects around the house when we have time. Travelling to and from Florida, where our boat is. We’ve been making up lost time with friends. We’re enjoying not waking up at 6:30 every morning, but happy to still be involved as consultants.

Would you care to share your thoughts on Jeff Cone, the new Chief Investment Officer at BEAM Wealth?

Scott: Jeff has his finger on the pulse! I’ve left my money with BEAM to manage. I think Jeff is very knowledgeable, and his investment philosophy is much the same as mine. He is following the same tenants of asset allocation, capital market theory, diversification and promoting safety. I think he is doing a great job in this difficult environment we find ourselves in. Jeff and I both agree “this too shall pass.” Along with Jeff, we’ve got a great team in place working hard for you.  That’s what I was looking for in a transition and I’m very pleased.

What made you decide to stay on as a consultant?

Scott:I know there are areas where I can help make this transition as smooth as possible for our clients. I know our clients trust me and I don’t take that lightly. The first year of the transition was a big deal. I just want everyone to know I’m here if they need me.

What do you miss about coming into BEAM every day?

I truly miss catching up with clients on a regular basis.

And finally, what’s next for you?

No really big plans. We’re still getting used to retirement and winding down. Flying is our passion, and we plan to do more of that in the new Cessna Columbia 400. And of course, more boating in Florida!
